Noritake Hampshire Gold is reminiscent of the golden age of Noritake tableware design with its elegant traditional design, technique and appearance. The elegant cup (in a European 'bulb' style) and soup bowl (that has a classical rim and a diameter of 23cm) are fantastic new shapes, and add considerable appeal to the fine china dinner set, as does the attractive gift box it comes in. It also represents great value for money! It is chip resistant and there is a wide range of accessories available that compliment the dinnerware. Noritake has developed a reputation for producing fine bone china dinnerware of high quality with beautiful, elegant designs; it has always prided itself on its distinctive designs, innovative new technologies and unsurpassed quality in the manufacture of fine dinnerware. Noritake is a word frequently heard in collectible and antique circles. Noritake began as a trading company that was established in New York in 1876 by the Morimura Brothers that imported chinaware, curios, paper lanterns and other gift items from Japan. In 1904 the company, Nippon Toki Gomei Kaisha (it changed its name to "Noritake" in 1981), was established in the village of Noritake, near Nagoya in Japan, to create western style dinnerware for export. The earliest Noritake crockery and china that was produced was mostly hand painted. By the early 1920's, Noritake introduced assembly line techniques to produce the Noritake crockery and dinnerware, and this allowed Noritake to produce high quality, yet affordable, dinnerware on a larger production scale. From this time, the company started to grow very quickly, and in the decades that followed, it continued to perfect its production capabilities, and expanded its market worldwide. Noritake today has worldwide brand recognition, and is one of the largest manufacturers of china and porcelain, supplying superior quality tableware to over 100 countries. The majority of these products are manufactured in Noritake owned factories using the highest quality materials. Noritake Australia was established in 1957 and grew very quickly. By the late 1960's, Noritake Australia had become a household name and almost every Australian couple married during this period received a Noritake dinner set as a wedding present. |
